Green House Progress: Aug 1-6

Six days down, 25 to go!

  • Out with the cabinet doors, in with the tools!
  • Closet shelves gone.
  • Adios to all the various carpets!
  • 300 pounds of carpet!
  • Starting the process of new ceiling lights also requires some new junction boxes …
  • …and an adventure into the attic
  • Vintage medicine cabinet — nice piece, but not part of our vision. Gone!
  • Everyone is excited (and slightly terrified) to find out what lies beneath this awful shower.
  • Surprise, surprise … we have some rot.
  • Old vanity & sink: Gone!
  • Ok, so what the heck is going on with this heater platform??
  • Turns out it’s all completely unnecessary.
  • Demolition queen!
  • We’re thinking we’ll reinstall the heater nestled in the corner, where it doesn’t need to take up so much space.
  • Kayla thought she had no more energy for demo this week, but then decided to go after the kitchen linoleum anyway.
  • Oh yeah, and she pulled off all that ugly tile too.

Green House: “Before” (Aug 1)

Here’s what we’re starting with in the green house. We have 31 days to turn this around!

  • The seaward side of the house is one big room for entry, living space, and kitchen. This is the main entrance.
  • Oil heater, with really elaborate (and unnecessary!) set-up.
  • So many different flooring options in one little room!
  • The kitchen will stay pretty similar, except for a deep clean, new paint on the cabinets, and some additional storage/shelving space.
  • Entrance to both bedrooms.
  • Entrance to Bedroom #2 and bath.
  • So much plaster texturing!
  • Bedroom #1
  • Closet in bedroom #1
  • Bedroom #2
  • So many fun things to fix!
  • This wall texture MUST GO!
  • This whole bathroom deserves an upgrade.
